Eagles Fall To Atkinson Rebels

Montgomery County High School's Eagles football team faced a tough opponent on the road Friday night, falling to the Atkinson County Rebels by the final score of 41-27.

The Eagles struggled to find their footing early, as Atkinson County jumped out to a quick 15-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and extended it to a commanding 22-0 advantage at halftime. Despite the deficit, the Eagles showed signs of life in the second half. They put their first points on the board in the third quarter, but the Rebels maintained control, holding a 35-8 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter saw a spirited comeback attempt from Montgomery County. The Eagles offense found its rhythm, scoring 19 points in the final frame. While the late surge brought the final score to 41-27, it wasn't enough to overcome the Rebels' early dominance. They did get a big 54-yard touchdown run by Elijah McEwen in the fourth quarter along with a 52-yard touchdown pass.

The Eagles will have this week off and will be back in action next week when they host Taylor County with kickoff on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
