The Wheeler County Recreation Department's 14U girls softball team are the District 1 Class C Champions. They took part in the tournament two weeks ago, coming out on top. Soperton took fourth place.

Soperton vs. Metter

The first game of the tournament was between Soperton and Metter. It was a battle, but Metter took the win, 9-8 over Soperton.

Wheeler vs. Metter

Wheeler's first game of the tournament was in the second round against Metter. Wheeler had a bye in the first round. Wheeler played a good game and came away with a 7-2 win over Metter.

Wheeler vs. Johnson Co.

Up next was Johnson County in the semifinals of the winners' bracket. Wheeler rolled to an easy win. Wheeler took the victory, 8-1 over Johnson County.

Soperton vs. Hawkinsville In the losers' bracket, Soperton faced off with Hawkinsville. Soperton pulled away to take the win, 19-3, by the run rule over Hawksinville.

Soperton vs. Metter

Soperton got a rematch with Metter in the next round, but it was not to

be. Metter ended the tournament run for Soperton with a 7-3 win.

Wheeler vs. Metter Championship

Metter got past Johnson County in the semifinals of the losers' bracket to face off with Wheeler in the Championship. Wheeler was too much for Soperton, taking an 11-2 win to win the title.

Wheeler was scheduled to participate in the GRPA State Tournament this week in Greene County, but due to players making other commitments, with high school and travel ball, they did not have enough players to field a team.
