Lyons Kidnapping Attempt Thwarted By Young Boy

A child helped to thwart a kidnapping attempt in Lyons on Monday, May 5, by acting quickly to notify an adult of the incident.

A young boy and girl were playing outside of a home in Lyons when a man approached them. The man, later identified as Billy Otis Hood, grabbed the little girl, put his hand over her mouth, and told her not to scream. The little boy immediately jumped into action and ran inside to tell his grandm other about the incident. When the boy ran inside to tell an adult, Hood dropped the young girl and fled from the scene. Lyons Police Officers soon located Hood and arrested him, charging him with kidnapping and battery.

The little girl sustained no injuries.
