FIRE ‘N ICE - A semi-trailer loaded with ice headed for a local produce packing facility caught fire on its under carriage and burned on Adams Street Saturday about 7 pm. Vidalia Fire units were called to the scene to get the fire under control and the team from Cooper Towing worked into the night to dismantle the wreckage so that it could be removed. Adams Street was closed to traffic for several hours and there were no injuries reported in the incident. A MESMERIZING VIEW - The Alamo Fire Department hosted the city’s annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 28. The event featured live music, vendors, kids activities, and fireworks. The City of Vidalia will host a similar event at Ronnie A. Dixon City Park on Friday, July 4, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
