Tough Stretch For MCHS
It was a tough stretch for the Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team last week, as they dropped a pair of difficult games to fall to 3-11 on the season and 1-7 in Region play. vs. E. Laurens
The rough patch began at home on Monday with a 17-4 loss to the East Laurens Falcons. The Falcons struck early with two runs in the top of the first inning. Montgomery County showed some immediate fight, pushing a run across in the bottom half of the frame to make it a 2-1 game.
However, East Laurens responded with a big five-run second inning to stretch their advantage to 6-1. The Eagles clawed back with three runs in the bottom of the third to cut into the deficit, but the Falcons' offense proved to be too relentless. East Laurens tacked on a run in the fourth, three in the fifth, and put the game out of reach with a six-run surge in the top of the sixth to seal the victory. vs. Dodge Co.
Things didn't get any easier for the Eagles on Thursday when they hit the road to face the Dodge County Indians. Dodge County's bats were hot from the first pitch, handing Montgomery County a 15-0 defeat shortened to four innings by the run rule. The Indians took control with three runs in the opening frame, followed by a six-run outburst in the second inning to build a comfortable 9-0 lead. They kept the pressure on, adding three more runs in both the third and fourth innings to close out the game.
It is undeniably a frustrating stretch for the Eagles, but they will now have an opportunity to step away and regroup. Montgomery County is off this week for Spring Break, giving the team a muchneeded chance to rest their arms, clear their heads, and prepare for the final stretch of the schedule.
