The Lyons Recreation Department hosted the Annual Lyons Youth Tournament 12U boys tournament from May 18 to May 22, culminating in a local showdown championship. Both the hometown Lyons squad and rival Vidalia enjoyed a bye in the first round before beginning their respective marches to the title game, where Lyons ultimately secured a 6-0 shutout to claim the trophy.

VRD vs. Treutlen Co.

Following their bye, Vidalia opened the second round against Treutlen County. Vidalia wasted no time, jumping ahead with four runs in the top of the first inning and adding five more in the second to build a commanding 9-0 lead. Treutlen fought back with three runs in the bottom of the second, but Vidalia plated an insurance run in the top of the fourth to lock down a 10-3 victory.

LRD vs. Jenkins Co.

Lyons' second-round debut against Jenkins County was over quickly as the home team rolled to a run-rule win. In the bottom of the first inning, Lyons pulled away completely by hanging 11 runs on the board. They added four more in the second inning, securing a dominant 15-0 shutout.

VRD vs. Emanuel Co.

Up next for Vidalia was a tough test against Emanuel County. The game settled into a pitching battle, remaining scoreless through the first three innings before Vidalia finally broke the tie with two runs in the top of the fourth. Emanuel responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning, then surged ahead in the bottom of the fifth with a five-run rally to deal Vidalia a 6-2 defeat.

LRD vs. Telfair Co.

Lyons stayed perfect in the winners' bracket as they faced Telfair County in their next matchup. Lyons picked up a run in the top of the first inning and broke the game open with four more in the second to lead 5-0. Telfair managed a single run in the bottom of the third, but Lyons answered right back with three in the top of the fourth on their way to a comfortable 8-1 win.

LRD vs. Emanuel Co.

That victory put Lyons into the winners' bracket semifinals to face Emanuel County, where they rolled once again to secure a spot in the championship. Lyons

scored first with a run in the top of the first, but Emanuel plated two in the bottom half of the frame to take a 2-1 lead. The deficit was shortlived, as Lyons exploded for six runs in the top of the third and tacked on five more in the fifth to cruise to a 12-2 win.

VRD vs. Evans Co.

Down in the losers' bracket, Vidalia faced elimination against Evans County. Evans grabbed an early edge with a run in the top of the first, but Vidalia knotted it up at 1-1 in the second inning. Vidalia then took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third and scratched across one more in the fifth to survive with a gritty 3-1 win.

VRD vs. Appling Co.

Vidalia kept their tournament hopes alive in the next round with another 3-1 victory, this time over Appling County. Vidalia plated a run in the top of the first and added another in the second to establish a 2-0 advantage. They picked up a third run in the fifth inning before Appling finally managed a run in the bottom of the sixth, allowing Vidalia to hold on and advance.

VRD vs. Emanuel Co.

That resilient run set up a losers' bracket semifinal rematch between Vidalia and Emanuel County. Vidalia got their revenge early, jumping out to a four-run lead in the bottom of the first inning. Emanuel plated one in the top of the second, but Vidalia answered with two more in the bottom of the frame to make it 6-1. Emanuel managed just one more run in the sixth as Vidalia took the 6-2 win and earned a spot in the finals.

LRD vs. VRD Championship The Championship Game set the stage for a classic rivalry match, but Lyons proved to be too much. After a scoreless first, Lyons got on the board in the bottom of the second inning with three runs, then added two more in the third to push their lead to 5-0. Lyons tacked on one final run in the fifth inning and shut Vidalia out the rest of the way, taking the 6-0 win and the tournament title on their home field.
