The Lyons Recreation Department left no room for doubt at the GRPA State Golf Championships held on July 16. Traveling down to Okefenokee Country Club, three local golfers competing under the Toombs County banner took on the 18U Boys division and walked away with the top hardware. The trio secured first, second, and third place in a six-man field, completely shutting out the surrounding counties.

Clayton Williams led the charge for Lyons. He navigated the Blackshear course to card an 80, securing the top spot on the leaderboard. The performance earned him the State Championship title, finishing seven strokes ahead of his closest teammate.

Vick Moore claimed the runner-up position. He turned in a steady round of 87 to grab second place. His score kept the pressure off the top spot while maintaining a comfortable double-digit lead over the rest of the pack.

Clark Brannen completed the podium sweep for the local squad. He posted a 99 to lock down third place. Securing this spot guaranteed that the local boys took home all the top medals for the division.

The rest of the field fought for the remaining spots outside the top three. Lane Willis of Wayne County finished fourth with a 101. Matthew Dixon of Brantley County shot a 106 for fifth place, and Dylan Vail of Bryan County rounded out the group in sixth with a 125.
