IEP Online Workshop To Be Held on May 14

Parents and guardians of students with individualized education plans (IEPs) or individualized family service plans (IFSPs) can learn to effectively communicate with their IEP/ISFP teams during a free online workshop on Thursday, May 14.

IEPs and IFSPs are legally binding contracts that help to ensure that needed services and provisions are in place to allow children with developmental delays or disabilities the chance to succeed in the classroom and life. These documents are drafted by a team of professionals – including the child’s parents/guardians, school administrators, therapists, and more – who meet throughout the year to work to create the best possible educational atmosphere and plan for the child.

On May 14, Parent to Parent of Georgia and the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Family and Children Services is hosting a free workshop for families in Wheeler, Toombs, and Montgomery Counties to gain tips on using effective communication skills to develop a partnership with children’s IEP/ IFSP teams, preparing for school members, and how to be an effective member of the team.

Participants residing in Wheeler, Toombs, and Montgomery Counties who attend the full training and complete a survey will receive a $25 gift card as an incentive for their participation.

Preregistration is required for the workshop, which will be held online from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. To register, visit https:// tinyurl.com/32wbv9jr.
