The Vidalia Indians baseball team completed a three-game sweep over the Swainsboro Tigers this week, using strong pitching performances and timely hitting to control the series from start to finish.

Game 1

Vidalia opened the series at Greg James Field in Vidalia, with a 3-0 victory behind a complete game shutout from senior right-hander Veer Patel.

The Indians broke through in the fourth inning when Eion Ryals delivered a single to center field to score the first run of the game. Cayden Nance followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead. In the fifth inning, Henry Adams added an RBI single, providing all the support Patel needed as he shut down the Tigers offense.

Game 2

Game two proved to be more competitive, but Vidalia once again came out on top with a 4-3 win. Swainsboro struck first with a run in the second inning, but the Indians quickly answered in the bottom half. Adams reached base with a single before Ryals drove him in to tie the game. Nance followed with an RBI single to give Vidalia the lead.

Jake McCaw sparked the offense with a hit, two stolen bases, and a run scored on a wild throw. On the mound, Banks Hopkins earned the win, allowing five hits and three runs over six innings while striking out five and walking just two.

Game 3

The series shifted to Swainsboro, for game three, where the Indians completed the sweep with a 10-4 victory. Ryan Brantley led the way on the mound, earning the win after allowing five hits and just one unearned run while striking out four. Vidalia jumped on the board early in the first inning with a sacrifice fly from Hopkins, scoring Nance.

The Indians broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs on just two hits, capitalizing on an error and key contributions from Brantley, Clay Mimbs, and Hopkins. McCaw added to the inning with a fielder’s choice RBI.

Offensively, Nance and Brantley led the charge with two hits apiece, while Hopkins drove in a team-high two RBIs. Patel also made an impact at the plate, drawing five walks—four of them intentional—as Swainsboro avoided pitching to him.

The Indians are off this week for Spring Break, and will be back next week with a 3-game series against Savannah Country Day.
