Governor Brian Kemp spoke with members of the community on Tuesday, March 17, when he stopped in Vidalia while traveling with U.S. Senate Candidate Derek Dooley on the campaign trail.

During his visit, Kemp mingled with citizens individually, hearing their concerns and gratitude for his work while in office, before addressing the audience as a whole. “I would not be governor if it wasn’t for folks like you all – folks in rural Georgia that turned out for us and supported us and worked hard for us, believed in what we were talking about,” he emphasized. continued from page

“It’s been an honor for the greatest first lady in the country, Marty Kemp, and me, and the girls to be able to travel around the last few days. It’s really good to see a lot of old friends [and] a lot of folks that really worked hard for us, and just say ‘thank you’ for helping us have a good run.”

The Governor is currently in his final year of office, as he will soon vacate the seat for the winner of the Gubernatorial Election in November. While in office, Kemp has accomplished many feats, such as his recent decision to suspend the gas tax to ensure that fuel is affordable in Georgia even while prices surge because of the United States’s conflict with Iran; and his signing of House Bill 1000, which gives individual state income tax filers one-time $250 rebates, heads of household onetime $375 rebates and married couples filing jointly one-time $500 rebates.

He assured that his work under the Gold Dome was not complete until after ten months. “If you take your eye off the ball, something bad is going to happen – that’s all I’ll be remembering when people forget the last seven years. So, don’t worry – we are going to ‘finish the drill,’ as [former University of Georgia Head Football] Coach [Mark] Richt used to say, and keep working hard every day,” Kemp remarked. “The thing is – today, I feel even more strongly than I did when I first took that oath [of office] back in January of 2019 – we live in the best state to live, work, and raise our families in the best country in the world. I really believe that, and we’ve been honored to be serving.”
