LETTER TO THE EDITOR
I am one of the volunteers for Keepin It Clean for city of Vidalia. When I ride throughout our town, there is litter everywhere. It’s almost on every street, parking lots are full of litter. I know volunteers are trying to help with this issue because I am one of them trying to help. I try and keep Aimwell and Estroff clean, but the following morning humans have thrown out more trash. Keep It Clean volunteers pick up one road and by the next morning, people have thrown out bags of fast food including all the food packets, straws and wrappers. Beer bottles are prevalent. People tear up lottery tickets before they throw them out. I have never seen our little town with so much trash. Parking lots need to be cleaned every night. The entire area. Who manages these lots? Who is responsible for the upkeep of these properties and parking lots? How can the city start issuing littering fines? How can they get these people on camera? Any suggestions are appreciated if they are helpful. Please do your part and throw your trash in a trash can and not our streets. If you see someone throwing out trash, call law enforcement with their tag. Let’s all work together to keep our city clean. Thank you, Marla Jernigan
