Month of Exciting Activities Scheduled at the Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library

The Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library is sure to be bustling with activity throughout March, as the library has planned numerous events to keep all patrons entertained and involved at the facility.

In recognition of Read Across America Week, the librarians and others will be taking part in a dress up week from Monday, March 2, until Friday, March 6. Dress-up days for Monday and Tuesday were Hat Day and Solid Colors Day. Wednesday, March 4, is Wacky and Tacky Day; Thursday, March 5, is Favorite Book Character Day; and Friday, March 6, is Pajama Day.

On Wednesday, March 4, kids can enjoy Spark time from 3:45 p.m. until 4:45 p.m., during which they can enjoy free play time in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) room to check out new technology and the 3D printer. Adults can also enjoy fellowshipping and playing Dungeons and Dragons with other enthusiasts of the game from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

Kids can play a variety of virtual and board games during Game Time! at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 5.

Wiggles and Giggles – a program for the youngest library patrons (birth until age 5) and their caregivers which focuses on movement, songs, and early learning – will meet at 10:30 a.m. and teenage Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts will play the game at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 6.

A free showing of The Ant Bully will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7.

On Monday, March 9, patrons of all ages will play bingo at 4:30 p.m. and adults will meet to share about books they are currently reading during the Reverse Book Club event at 5 p.m.

Babies, toddlers, and preschool children can enjoy story time at 11 a.m., and kids can enjoy Lego Club at 4 p.m. and Arts and Tales – art-based story time – at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10.

Kids can build their own leprechauns during a craft event at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.

Chess players of all skills and ages will come together to play and learn more about the game during Chess Club at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.

Wiggles and Giggles will meet at 10:30 a.m. and the Kids Craft Club will create tissue paper shamrocks at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 12.

Kids will work together to make rainbow cookies in honor of St. Patrick’s Day at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14. Preregistration is required for this event; call (912) 537-9283 to register.

On Monday, March 16, Ameris Bank Branch Manager Michelle Dixon educates teenagers on budgeting, checking accounts, and fraud during the Adulting 101: Be the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) With Your Finances event at 4 p.m. As a reward for attending the event, attendees will be able to pet a baby goat after the presentation.

Story time will be held at 11 a.m., Lego Club will meet at 4 p.m., and Arts and Tales will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17.

Kids can enjoy Spark Time from 3:45 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. and adults will play Dungeons and Dragons from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.

Kids can enjoy a variety of board and virtual games during Game Time! at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

Wiggles and Giggles will meet at 10:30 a.m. and Cookies and Canvas will combine sweet treats and creativity at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 20. Preregistration is required for Cookies and Canvas; call (912) 537-9283 to register. The library will show The Iron Giant at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21.

Patrons of all ages can enjoy a few rounds of bingo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23.

Babies, toddlers, and preschool children can enjoy story time at 11 a.m., and kids can enjoy Lego Club at 4 p.m. and Arts and Tales – art-based story time – at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24.

Wednesday, March 25, will be a time of relaxation and creativity as the library hosts Coffee and Coloring at 10:30 a.m. and Coloring and Snacks at 4 p.m.

Chess Club will meet at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.

Wiggles and Giggles will be held at 10:30 a.m. and teenagers will meet to play Dungeons and Dragons at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 27.

Adults will bring their favorite books to bedazzle during the Bookish Craft: Book Bedazzling event at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28. Preregistration is required for this event; call (912) 537-9283 to register. Also, on March 28, adults may learn more about using artificial intelligence to identify photographs during the A.I. and Genealogy event at 11 a.m.

Adults will meet for the Sweet Onion Book Club at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 30.

Story time will be held at 11 a.m., Lego Club will meet at 4 p.m., and Arts and Tales will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.

The Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library is located at 610 Jackson Street in Vidalia, and is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. The library is closed on Sunday. For more information, call (912) 5379283.
