Wheeler In Region Tourney


The Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs basketball team opened their Region Tournament run with a commandingper formance last week, cruising to a decisive 59-17 v ictory over Hawkinsville.
The Lady Bulldogs established control immediately, running away with the game from the opening tipoff to secure the win with ease.
Offensive production was high for Wheeler, led by a standout performance from Nikita James, who poured in a game-high 26 points.
She was supported by Shiann Carey, who added 12 points, and A'naja Ricks, who scored 11 in the victory.
The tournament continued this week as the Lady Bulldogs faced the Telfair County Lady Trojans on Tuesday, a game that concluded after presstime.Av ictoryin that matchup would see the Lady Bulldogs advancing to play later in the week. On the boys' side, the Bulldogs are scheduled to host Treutlen County on Wednesdayat7:30p.m. Amidst the tournament action, the school has cause for celebration as both the boys' and girls' teams have officially secured spots in the upcoming GHSA State Playo ffs.
