Brewton Parker Christian University (BPCU) is continuing to grow, as they have officially unified the university’s education programs under a newly established School of Education.

“For decades, educator preparation has been central to Brewton-Parker’s mission, with graduates serving faithfully as teachers in classrooms locally, regionally, and nationally,” Brewton-Parker Christian University Provost Justin Russell emphasized. “Establishing the school of education allows the university to build on that strong foundation by further strengthening how we prepare educators who are ready to lead, serve, and make an immediate continued from page

impact through Christian faith, academic excellence, and real-world practice.”

This establishment of the School of Education allows the University to continue to grow in both enrollment and the number of programs offered while maintaining the current academic rigor and ensuring students continue to be ready for the classroom upon graduation. The School of Education will continue to house the University’s undergraduate and graduate education programs while providing a clearer academic structure and identity for current and future students.

School of Education Dean and Assistant Professor of Education Beverly Faircloth spoke about the change. “In recent years, we have seen significant growth in the number of students choosing education as their calling, along with an expansion of programs designed to meet workforce needs. Establishing a school of education allows us to sustain that growth while maintaining a strong commitment to academic rigor, practical application, and the preparation of highly effective educators who are ready to serve from day one,” she explained.

Russell and Faircloth assured that the School of Education will continue to equip future educators through instruction grounded in Christian values, academic excellence, and a calling to serve.

The University’s education program is currently thriving, as students continue to learn and develop the necessary skills and experience needed to excel in the classroom. Most recently, Brewton-Parker Christian University celebrated three Music Education Majors – John Graham, Hayden Smith, and Kenan Strutchen – who passed their Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) to become a teacher, setting the program’s GACE Pass Rate at 100%.

The Education Program also recognized students who earned President’s List honors, meaning they completed at least 12 credit hours last semester and earned a 4.0 GPA. These students were Ava Anderson, Abigail Banks, Emma Bourquine, Jenny Braddy, Kassidy Brantley, Katlin Brown, Maeleigh Burns, Dyland Carelock, Crystal Cerillo, Grant Cochran, John Graham, Abby Griggs, Jasmine Greene, Natalie O’Neal, Marlee Powell, Sydney Sanders, Hayden Smith, J.D. Smith, Julie Smith, and Alyssa Ussrey.

The Program also honored students who were named to the University’s Dean’s List, meaning they also completed at least 12 credit hours and maintained a GPA between a 3.60 and 3.99. These students were Madilyn Adams, Tabatha Bailey, Benton Dolan, Esther Driesenga, Gabriel Evans, Megan Kinsey, Taylor Lamontagne, Annaleise Martinez, Brinley Miller, Tate Morries, Gabby Nelms, Macie Purcell, Eli Saunders, Jada Scott, Bethany Underwood, and Conner Whited.

“Many of these students are also athletes, musicians, or are balancing fulltime work and family life – this is an impressive accomplishment by any measure!” Faircloth remarked.

University administrators expect the programs to continue to grow and thrive with the new School of Education.
