KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Since 1954, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca. org) has been challenging coaches and athletes to use the dynamic platform of sport to reach their peers with the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

As part of this challenge, each year FCA develops an annual ministry theme designed to encourage coaches and athletes with God’s truth, provide opportunities for them to get connected to the ministry of FCA, and help them go deeper in their faith. Today, FCA is excited to announce its theme for 2026: “Proven.”

We’re all trying to prove something: our spot on the team, being captain material, being accepted by our peers, earning success and accolades, even love. We put time and energy into doing all we can to fit into these spaces, but it leaves us exhausted and unfulfilled. But God has proven everything for us through His Son, Jesus Christ. We are proven in Him.

This year’s theme is based on John 15:8: “My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples.”

Throughout the year, FCA participants will dive into four key concepts to learn what it looks like to go from living for approval to living from the love of God.

1st, connecting to Christ and others.

“In the fast-paced world of sports, it’s easy to get caught up in the game, leading to burnout, frustration and a desire to check out,” remarked FCA CEO and President Shane Williamson. “God’s plan is for us to remain connected to Him and to one another. His love is not performance-based; it is proven through His pursuit of us and giving of His Son.”

2nd, cultivating Christ-like character.

Williamson went on to say, “Cultivating Christ-like character is about fruit. It's what our life displays—similar to habits. And fruit is the evidence of a healthy connection to Jesus. It's the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and selfcontrol that comes from the Holy Spirit working in us.” 3rd, remembering that what we choose matters.

“We have a choice about what we spend our time on, how we spend it and to whom we give it,” shared Williamson. “We’ve committed to God’s team. We’ve cultivated our faith to receive God’s love more and become more like Jesus. Now, will we choose to love like Jesus?”

And finally, staying committed.

“Every competitor faces adversity—injury, disappointment, criticism, loss. Jesus reminds us that hardship isn’t a sign of failure,” said Williamson. “It’s an opportunity to remain faithful. To remain committed when it gets hard.”

Ultimately, Williamson says, this year’s theme centers on a singular life-changing reality.

“You don’t need to prove anything; Jesus has proven it all.”

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ vision is to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. Its mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. FCA’s guiding values are integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence.

Since 1954, FCA has used the powerful medium of sports and building relationships to reach the world for Jesus Christ.
