Vidalia native Lyric Alexandria recently released her first single, introducing her as an established R& B artist.
Lyric is the 23 year-old daughter of Martin Luther Wardlaw, and is currently pursing her biomedical engineering doctorate degree at the University of Georgia. Growing up around music, Lyric had a passion for singing from a young age, leading her to pursue music while also working towards her degree.
Her new single, “Pictures,” is a soft, vulnerable ballad – written and produced by award-winning songwriters and producers Anthony “Multy” Coleman and her father – that explores the quiet heartache of memory after a painful breakup. Through clever wordplay and soulful phrasing, Lyric confronts the way photographs — once symbols of joy — that have become haunting reminders of moments frozen in time. The song’s centerpiece is a poignant revelation: she now hates the pictures she once loved, because every image pulls her back into a story she’s trying to forget.
“Lyric sings with the kind of honesty that stops you in your tracks,” Ascension Records Executive Producer Martin Luther Wardlaw remarked. “There’s power in how softly she delivers the truth. ‘Pictures’ feels like a private moment you’re allowed to witness.”
With influences rooted in artists like H.E.R., Snoh Aalegra, and Jazmine Sullivan, Lyric shapes her own lane—merging lyrical vulnerability with a clean, soulful aesthetic.
The new single is currently available on all digital streaming platforms.
