Barons Wrestle At Rocky Top

The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons men’s wrestling team competed at the Rocky Top Duals in Tennessee on December 13, 2025. The Barons faced off against tough competition from #12 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), (RV) Georgetown College, and Avila University. Despite their best efforts, the Barons came up short against all three.

The Barons did their best against #12 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) but fell 48-3. Arthur Reed scored the lone points for the Barons in the matchup, winning his match at 149 lbs. In the matchup against Avila University, the Barons lost 49-3. Gailan Wilds won his matchup at 174 lbs with a decision. In the dual against (RV) Georgetown College, Gailan Wilds stood out again with a fall in his match, and Blake Walker got a major decision at 149 lbs. The Barons fell 37-10 to (RV) Georgetown College.

The Barons were at home on Tuesday of this week, and will wrestle one more time before the Christmas break this Friday.

BPC @ Battlie of the Bluegrass Bre w t o n – Pa r k e r Christian University men’s wrestling team competed in Corbin, Ky., at the Battle of the Bluegrass hosted by the University of the Cumberlands. The Barons had a strong showing against fierce competition, with six wrestlers placing in the top 8 of their weight classes.

Cory Moten took home 7th place in the 133 lbs division with three wins in the day. Kullum Irivin grabbed 5th place for the 141 lbs weight class with four wins on the day. Arthur Reed and Gailan Wilds finished with an 8thplace finish with a pair of wins at the 149 and 174 pound weight classes. Thomas Crawford and Brandon Lively both finished in 7th place at the 184 and 197-pound weight classes.

Head Coach Tyler Smith shared his thoughts on the team's performance today and what he hopes to see in the new year. “I am proud of our growth and our guys allowing me to hold a high standard for our program while coaching them hard. We are excited to get a break and spend some time with our loved ones before getting back to work.”

The Barons had a great showing at the invite and ended the 2025 portion of the season. The Barons will be competing again after Christmas break in the New Year, when they take on Truett McConnell on January 8, 2026, on the road.
