The Vidalia Presbyterian Church is making a difference in the community through their newly launched ComPassion Project, which works to donate to and raise awareness for causes within the area.

Church members Elizabeth Killian-Wilkes and Office Administrator Juanita Carpenter had an idea early in 2025: why not designate a local community organization each month to raise awareness within our congregation? Donations would be accepted from the congregation and the church would match a portion of the donations.

The idea was approved by the church leaders and began in April 2025. To date, the church has contributed more than $3,000 to multiple local groups including the United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs of Toombs County, Rachel’s House, Bread of Heaven, Mercy Ministries, Toombs County Family Connection, and others.

In September, a check for $700 was presented to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Toombs County by Barbara Hill on behalf of the Vidalia Presbyterian Church ComPassion Project and in memory of Howard Hill. Hill was a key member of the Boys and Girls Club Board as well as a long time active member of Vidalia Presbyterian Church, and was even chosen as the Vidalia Man of the Year in 2014.

The Church is continuing to support various local causes through the program. For more information, call (912) 537-3500.
