Toombs County Bulldogs Sweep Yellow Jackets

The Toombs County High School basketball teams defended their home court last Tuesday, securing a pair of victories over the visiting Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets.

Girls

In the opener, the Lady Bulldogs controlled the pace to secure a decisive 54-30 victory. The offense was sparked by a standout performance from Arianna Hill, who led all scorers with 25 points.

Natalie Quintero added 14 points to the effort, while Taylor Bland chipped in with 10 points to round out the doubledigit scoring for Toombs County.

Boys

The nightcap proved to be a defensive battle, with the Bulldogs overcoming a halftime deficit to edge out Jeff Davis 4038.

The Bulldogs trailed for the majority of the contest, ending the first quarter down 15-14 and facing a 24-19 deficit at the halftime break. Toombs County began to chip away at the lead in the third period, narrowing the gap to 33-29 heading into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs' defense clamped down, holding the Yellow Jackets to just 5 points. Toombs scored 11 in the quarter to overtake Jeff Davis and seal the 2-point win. Parker Stanley led the offense with 16 points, followed by Tucker Braddy with 12 points.

Toombs will be back in action this Friday when they travel to Savannah Country Day with the girls game tipping off at 6:00 p.m. with the boys to follow.
