The Vidalia High School Indians basketball program had a tale of 2 games last Tuesday, with the Lady Indians falling to the Lady Blue Tide of Long County, while the VHS boys' team secured a decisive victory over the Jefferson County Warriors.

Girls vs. Long Co,

The Lady Indians struggled to find their offensive rhythm against the Lady Blue Tide of Long County, ultimately falling 46-27.

Long County set the tone early, leading the Lady Indians 8-4 at the end of the first quarter. The gap widened slightly as the teams headed into the locker room for halftime, with Long County holding a 20-14 advantage.

The third quarter proved to be the pivotal stretch where Long County pulled away, extending their lead to 3622. Despite the Lady Indians' best efforts, they couldn't close the deficit in the final period, and the Lady Blue Tide claimed the 46-27 victory.

Boys vs. Jefferson Co.

The Vidalia High School Indians boys' team put on a defensive clinic and showcased strong offensive firepower, cruising to a 5239 victory over the Jefferson County Warriors.

The Indians seized control of the game after the tip-off. Jerry Roundtree (#3) ignited the offense with an opening 3-point field goal. With contributions from DJ Wallace (#2) at the free-throw line and a series of quick buckets from Rashad Brown (#4), Vidalia ended the first quarter with a dominant 16-2 lead. Brown’s scoring streak midway through the quarter forced Jefferson County to burn a timeout early in the contest.

The momentum continued into the second period, highlighted by Roundtree’s sharp shooting as he nailed his third 3-pointer of the first half. Brown continued his high-scoring effort, adding a 3-pointer of his own before halftime. The Indians went into the break firmly ahead, 31- 15.

Despite attempts by the Warriors to rally in the second half, the Indians consistently answered. Free throws from Wallace and Roundtree, along with a field goal from Alton Boles (#5), ensured Vidalia maintained a sizable lead, closing the third quarter up 41-25. The Indians managed the clock and the court in the final period, ultimately securing the 52-39 win.

VHS was led by Rashad Brown with 20 points, with Jerry Roundtree and DJ Wallace adding 11 points each.

The Lady Indians will have this week off, but the boys will be back in action as they host Providence Christian on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
