The Toombs County High School Lady Bulldogs basketball team fell to the Ware County Lady Gators on Monday, while the Bulldogs boys' team lost its contest to the Turner County Fighting Tigers, as both teams wrapped up their participation in the Jeff Davis Tip-Off Tournament last week.

Girls vs. Ware Co.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled to find their rhythm against a tough Ware County squad, ultimately falling with a final score of 58-40. Toombs County worked hard on both ends of the floor, but the Lady Gators' consistent scoring proved to be the difference maker in the tournament finale.

Boys vs. Turner Co,

The boys' matchup against the Turner County Fighting Tigers was a defensive struggle, with both teams finding scoring difficult throughout the contest. The Bulldogs ultimately came up short, losing 48-39.

Turner County came out strong, taking an early nine-point lead with the scoreboard reading 15-6 at the end of the first quarter. Toombs County tightened things up in the second, but the Fighting Tigers still held the advantage at halftime, leading 23-17. The Bulldogs remained within striking distance at the end of the third quarter, trailing 33-27, but Turner went on a final run to secure the 48-39 victory.

Despite the loss, the Toombs County defense showed intensity and promise, holding the Fighting Tigers under 50 points. Offensively, the team had several opportunities but was unable to consistently convert, a factor the team will look to address in upcoming practices. Coach [Reporter's Note: Insert Coach's Name Here] praised the defensive effort and stressed the importance of improving execution on the offensive end moving forward.

Toombs was led by Cornelius Bullard with 16 points.

Both the Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs faced off with Jeff Davis on Tuesday of this week on the road in Hazlehurst. The game was after presstime. They will be back in action next week.
