Vidalia’s Robbie Sharpton Receives Statewide Facilities and Grounds Award

The City of Vidalia is proud to announce that Robbie Sharpton of the Vidalia Recreation Department has been selected by the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) to receive the Facilities and Grounds Award. Each year, GRPA invites districts to nominate one full-time employee who goes “above and beyond,” to keep parks and facilities beautiful, safe, and welcoming. For Vidalia, the decision to nominate Robbie was an easy one. Robbie is responsible for maintaining the athletic fields at the Ed Smith Complex, where he works year-round to keep the grounds clean, healthy, and professionally maintained. His operation of the city’s robotic paint machine ensures perfectly aligned fields for baseball, softball, football, and soccer; work that enhances the park’s appearance and the experience of every visitor.

Robbie’s dedication is matched by his positive attitude and genuine care for his hometown. He approaches his work with pride, treats others with kindness, and is known for his steady, humble demeanor.

“Robbie works diligently throughout the year to maintain the athletic fields at the Ed Smith Complex. We have a high standard regarding the condition of our fields, and Robbie is passionate about keeping said standards. His goal is for all who enter or simply ride by our park to see clean, healthy, well-kept fields.

His work is meaningful, and it enhances the overall atmosphere of our park. We are grateful for all he does for our recreation department and our community. You’re the best, Robbie. We love you!”

The City of Vidalia congratulates Robbie Sharpton on receiving this well-deserved honor and thanks GRPA for recognizing his outstanding contributions.
