McElrath and now includes his sons, Shawn and Shane. Featuring an ever-popular horn section, the group effectively blends the sounds and music of yesterday and today. The Swingin Medallions have performed throughout the nation in thousands of venues, and their diverse repertoire has made them overwhelming favorites with college audiences as well as the more mature rock and rollers.

The Swingin Medallions band became famous in 1966 with the release of its hit album, “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love,” selling 1.5 million copies. The song continues to demonstrate its timeless popularity on radio, television and in motion pictures. “Double Shot” was followed with another hit, “She Drives Me Out of My Mind,” in 1967, and in 1969, they released another timeless and unforgettable favorite tune, “Hey, Hey Baby.” The band has released countless other singles through Capitol and Smash Records.

In September 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band invited the Medallions on stage at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC, to join in for a rendition of 'Double Shot.' This was definitely an historic moment for the group and one of the highlights of the show. Bruce labeled “Double Shot” as “The greatest fraternity rock song of all time.”

The Swingin Medallions will hit the stage at 3:30 at this year's Christmas in Dixie event, December 6. Christmas in Dixie is an annual fundraising event to provide joy for families in need during the Christmas season sponsored by the Robert A. Toombs Camp 932 Sons of Confederate Veterans. The public is invited to come out and enjoy the event, which also includes a car, truck and motorcycle show, amusements and rides for the kids and live musical entertainment.
