up truck after the men got into an argument at a family birthday party earlier that day. Floyd succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed what caused the argument.

The incident is actively being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who were asked by Wheeler County Sheriff Glenn Giles to assist in the investigation as part of the county’s protocol for probing homicides. Evidence was collected from the scene of the incident and sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for further testing.

Booker – who is married to Floyd’s daughter, Whitney Floyd, 38, of Glenwood – is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and hit and run. He remains in the Wheeler County Jail.

Whitney Floyd was also arrested on November 2 on outstanding warrants, none of which are connected with her father’s death, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. However, on November 4, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation charged Whitney Floyd with one felony charge for hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal in connection to the case. No further information has been disclosed about her role in the incident. She was later released from the Wheeler County Jail on bond.

Once completing their investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will turn the case over to the Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
