quickly as a united group to complete tasks.

The Beta Blitz competition requires Beta Club members to create a t-shirt design that reflects the excitement, energy, and essence of the event. The design has to be bold, eyecatching, and ready to be seen, and participants must present the shirt and the design process, and also field questions from panel judges.

“It honestly feels like a dream. This is my first year as a Beta Sponsor, so my only goal was being able to make it possible for the students to go,” Shiver commented on the accomplishment. “challenges. I have 11 students going to State Conference for various challenges. I’m hoping to take about 10 students to Nationals.”

When asked her secret to helping these Beta Club members to strive for success, Shiver remarked, “I just try to be there for my students and help them however I can.”

“I am so proud of how far Junior Beta has come this year and I can’t wait to see how we place at nationals!” she emphasized.

Senior Beta Club

Montgomery County Senior Beta Club is composed of Montgomery County High School Students and is led by Co-Sponsors Kerri Anderson and Payton Spell.

The Senior Beta Club qualified for the national convention in every category they competed in, including Collaboration Connection, Beta Blitz, and Project Proposal.

“Our members had to showcase their ability to connect ideas, apply creative strategies, and solve problems on the fly. Flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork were key! The members that qualified for nationals in this event were Juniors Alexandre Cervantes, Cristal Santiago, Jasmine Nichols, Saida Carreon, Kevin Medrano, and Sophomore Fletcher Thomas,” Anderson explained.

She added, “Not only did they have to bring a ready made textile, they then had to present and justify their design to a panel of judges. Within this presentation they had to explain their concept, why it fit the theme, and how it resonated with convention attendees. Our members that participated in this event were Senior Zoe Jordan, and Juniors Alexis Reaves, Gracie Martin, Allison Flores, Katie Powell, and Jacob Brown.”

Anderson explained that during the Project Proposal event, Beta Club members had to present a project that would be beneficial for the school and/ or the community. The participants had to pitch this project, explain why it was needed, who it would serve, how it will be implemented, and a possible timeframe for it to be completed. “They were scored on the Originality of Service Project, Collaboration of the presenting team, Logo Design and branding, Presentation Skills and Impact of their Service Project,” she clarified. “Our members that competed in the event were Montgomery County High School Senior Beta President Addyson Shepherd and Seniors Zion Harvey, Trinity Wideman, and Bailey Fountain, with assistance from Senior Aaralyn Little.”

She spoke about the qualification. “While we qualify for nationals every year, we attend our Leadership Summits. This is the first year that we have qualified in every event that we competed in! This is a great accomplishment for our club and all of our members that competed should be proud of what they have done! Ms. Spell and I are so proud of the hard work that all of our members put into their projects for competitions. We as sponsors hold our members to high standards and they always exceed them. We honestly could not ask for a better group of students to be our members.”

When asked about her secret to helping students stay involved in the club and striving for excellence, Anderson remarked, “We as sponsors are here to provide a safe space for our members to take chances, make mistakes, and grow into the leaders that we know that they are. Our stance as the sponsors is that this is a student lead club, we are not here to be in control of what they do. Every event, fundraiser, or service project we do is created by our officers and members. We are here to facilitate the means and provide encouragement and assistance as needed.”

She continued, “Everything we do is for the betterment of our students! Just like the motto for our club, ‘Let us lead by serving others,’ we as sponsors strive to lead them by example. Our members know that we hold them to very high standards but that we also do not expect for them to do anything that we are not also willing to do.”

“We are incredibly proud of our members and their accomplishments! Their dedication to our club and their community shines through in everything that they do, and I just hope they know how much we truly appreciate all of their hard work. We are excited to see if any more of our members qualify for nationals in Nashville, Tennessee, this year at our State Convention in December!” Anderson concluded.

The Senior Beta Club State Convention will be held on December 1-3 in Savannah, while the Junior Beta Club State Convention will follow on December 4-6, also in Savannah. The Senior Beta Club National Convention will be held on June 16-20, 2026, and the Junior Beta Club National Convention will follow on June 23-27,2026, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
