be named the state Teacher of the Year.

“I am very honored to have been chosen as TOTY. I work with an amazing group of educators and students who inspire me daily,” Love emphasized, as she shared her gratitude for the school’s administration and her coworkers.

She currently teaches Reading Intervention for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. She has spent the entirety of her career teaching at Treutlen County Schools, as she has helped to educate and inspire students for 20 years. When asked what inspires her to continue teaching, Love remarked, “My students are my why! I truly love teaching and building relationships with my students and their families.”

Love will now be considered for the state Teacher of the Year award. If selected, she will spend a year traveling around the state, speaking on and advocating for education.

Brinson

Treutlen Middle/High School Math Teacher Davis Brinson was selected as his school’s Teacher of the Year by his colleagues.

Brinson currently teaches math and serves as an educational support system teacher, or a teacher who helps those with special academic, emotional, or behavioral needs. He has spent all of the 19 years that he has taught at Treutlen County Schools.

“I am humbled and honored to be recognized by the wonderful group of educators at Treutlen,” Brinson commented on the award. I would like thank Ms. Deborah Moore, a former educator at Treutlen, who pushed me to finish undergraduate work. I thank my family for continuing to support me in my teaching and coaching responsibilities.”

When asked what inspires him to continue teaching, Brinson stated, “I am inspired by witnessing the personal and academic growth of my students in the classroom, on the athletic fields, and as productive members of society.”

Brinson and Love plan to continue teaching at Treutlen County Schools for years to come, as the impact numerous students and help them on their educational journeys.
