CONTEXT

A compilation of quotations on a variety of issues by national, state and regional writers, well-known personalities, just plain everyday people and from various publications collected by the editors of THE ADVANCE.

Quotes for our Times:

Byron York, chief political correspondent for The Washington Examiner: For frantic dems, Trump bashing is the only game in town.

Now, Democratic attorneys general and activist allies have launched an unprecedented wave of legal warfare to stop every Trump policy initiative. The anti-Trump website Lawfare is currently tracking 334 active suits challenging administration policies. 'We've sued this dude 44 times, and we'll sue him 44 more and 44 more after that,' Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison told Democrats in Minneapolis.

Matt Vespa, Senior Editor at Townhall. com: Chicago woman just obliterated the dems' narrative on public safety.

Democrats often speak as if the people are behind them. They’re not. This Chicago woman, Ameenah Haqque, didn’t know it at the time, but she obliterated the Democrats’ anti-Trump narrative on the recent push to enhance public safety. Liberals say these moves are unnecessary, crime is down, and the president is Hitler. Two of the three are laughably off-base. Is crime down? It’s Chicago—I doubt it. …

“No. Not at all. No, especially with the police being defunded,” added Haqque when asked if she felt safer in the Windy City.

This Chicago resident said, despite the purported decrease in crime, she does not feel safe. She wants the governor and the mayor to be open to more resources to keep law and order.

Liz Peek, Fox News contributor: Trump pranks Democrats into opposing something they've always claimed to support.

It is true that Washington's Mayor Muriel Bowser has not supported Trump’s efforts to bring down crime in the District. In its earliest days, she sounded positive about the beefed-up law enforcement presence, saying, 'What I’m focused on is the federal surge and how to make the most of the federal officers that we have.'

Pushed by political allies to follow the anti-Trump playbook, her optimism evaporated as she urged residents to 'make sure we elect a Democratic House so that we have a backstop to this authoritarian push.' An authoritarian push that has seen crime in Washington plummet.

President Trump is betting that the residents of cities plagued by violence and theft will welcome his assault on crime. He’s probably right. Democrats should wise up.

Dave Marcus, columnist for Fox News Digital: With Trump in power, ‘South Park’ seeks to get its edge back.

Fresh off of its new $1.5 billion streaming deal with Paramount, paid for perhaps in part by savings from canceling Trump-hating Stephen Colbert’s show, 'South Park' is going to be with us for some time to come.

This is a good thing. People on the right can take a joke. It would just help if the jokes about MAGA could actually be funny.
