Indians Move to 2-0 in Region

Runs were hard to come by Thursday night in Savannah, but the Vidalia High School Indians softball team managed to score just enough to defeat the Savannah Christian Raiders 2-1. The win puts the Indians at 2-0 and atop Region 3 D- 1A.

Tori Polke got the win in the circle for the Indians. She was once again dominant, surrendering just 3 hits while striking out 13 and walking none.

Offensively, Vidalia managed just 4 hits in a strong performance from Savannah Christian Pitcher Jillian Austin. Those hits came from Tori Polke, Paisley Ledford, Sadie Berry, and Anastyn Blewett.

Savannah got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Berry drove in a run for Vidalia when she singled to score Deidra Boston in the 3rd Inning to tie the game at 1-1. The Indians scored the go ahead run in the seventh inning, after Paisley Ledford singled, then scored on a Savannah Christian error. That gave VHS the win, 2-1.

VHS was at home against Emanuel County Institute on Tuesday after prestime. They will be back in action on Wednesday at Swainsboro at 6:00 p.m. and then will take part in a tournament at Social Circle on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, they will play the host team at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday VHS will play Harlem at 10:000 a.m. and Elbert County at noon.
