3 Wins For Lady Bulldogs

The Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team had an outstanding week with three wins. They started off the week with a win over Telfair County on Tuesday, defeated Dodge County on Wednesday, and then rolled over Montgomery County on Thursday. vs. Telfair Co.

The team started the week with a hard-fought 5-3 victory over the Telfair County Varsity Lady Trojans. Ava Dixon was the star of the show, striking out 16 batters from the pitcher's circle. Dixon was a force on offense as well, with four hits and three runs over seven innings.

The Lady Dawgs took an early lead in the second inning when Anna Ethredge singled, and an error by Telfair put Wheeler up 2-0. Telfair plated a run in the third inning, and then took the lead in the sixth with two more runs to go ahead, 3-2.

The Lady Dawgs stormed back in the top of the seventh. Ava Dixon, Mackenzie Johnson, and Shelley Conner each delivered singles to reclaim a 5-3 advantage, sealing the win. vs. Dodge Co.

The momentum continued on Wednesday as the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Dodge County Lady Indians with a decisive 5-0 shutout. Kaitlyn Conner was dominant on the mound, throwing a completegame shutout.

The offense got going in the third inning with a sacrifice fly from Ava Dixon and a single from Rozilynn Cox to take a 2-0 lead.

Dixon continued her stellar week, hitting a two-run homer in the fifth to extend the lead. Wheeler added one more run in the seventh inning on the way to the 5-0 win.

In addition to Dixon's big day at the plate, Rozilynn Cox, Mackenzie Johnson, and Kaleigh Scott each contributed with two hits. vs. Montgomery Co.

The Lady Dawgs closed out their perfect week on Thursday with a commanding 12-0 victory over the Montgomery County Varsity Lady Eagles. Anna Ethredge was the offensive engine, driving in four runs on three hits. Ethredge singled in the third and fourth innings, scoring two runs and three runs, respectively, to fuel the runaway win.

Khloe Davis was lights out on the pitcher's mound, striking out 11 batters and holding the opposition to zero hits and zero runs over four innings. Laurie Conner started the scoring with a single, and Ethredge's single in the third extended the lead to 9-0.

This week Wheeler was at Pierce County on Tuesday after press time. They will be back on the diamond on Thursday when they host Treutlen County at 6:00 p.m.
