The Vidalia High School Indians Cross Country teams delivered an electrifying performance at the Bob Blastow Invitational, showcasing their talent and determination on a challenging 5K course. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams demonstrated remarkable progress, with standout performances and personal bests highlighting a promising start to the 2025 season.

Girls

The girls’ team stole the spotlight, with every runner achieving a personal record under the humid Georgia skies. Leading the charge was junior Judith Hussey, who powered through to a 9th-place finish with an impressive time of 21:22. “Judith’s leadership and focus were incredible,” said Coach Mandy Godbee. “Seeing every girl hit a personal best shows how hard they’ve worked.” The team’s depth and commitment were evident, setting a strong foundation for upcoming meets.

Boys

The boys’ team also made their mark, led by senior Cash Driggers, who paced the squad with a strong, steady performance. Freshman Wyatt Vassey and junior Greg Taylor both delivered personal bests, bolstering the team’s momentum. “Cash set the tone, and Wyatt, Simon and Greg really stepped up,” said Coach Godbee. “Their personal records are a testament to their dedication.” The boys’ squad showed grit and teamwork, positioning them well for future competitions.

The Bob Blastow Invitational, known for its competitive field and tough conditions, tested the Indians’ resilience, but their summer training paid off. “This meet showed our potential,” Coach Godbee added. The Indians prepare for their next challenge, the Frazier Hite Invite on August 28. With this momentum, the Indians are poised for a standout season.
