On Friday, August 15, Glenwood Telephone Company (GTC), a trusted name in rural telecommunications for over 80 years, celebrated the opening of its new office in Alamo, located at 18 W Railroad Street. The new space will serve as both a customer service center and a hub for showcasing GTC’s cuttingedge fiber internet technology.

“It’s not just about providing faster internet—it’s about giving our neighbors a local place where they can get personalized support, learn about new technology, and see firsthand how fiber can transform their homes and businesses. The new location underscores GTC’s commitment to being not just a service provider, but a community partner,” O'Brien told a large group of community members, local leaders, and business owners who attended the grand opening event.

O'Brien said the Alamo office will offer friendly, face-to-face support for account questions and payments and provide customers expert advice on GTC’s 99.9% buried fiber network and service options, hands-on demonstrations of the latest Wi-Fi solutions, streaming setups, and smart home devices.

At the new location, GTC will also offer free community seminars that will include educational workshops on AI tools, streaming TV services, and basic internet skills for all ages.

O'Brien further stated that GTC’s expansion into Alamo is part of its ongoing mission to bring highspeed fiber connectivity to more homes, farms, and businesses across Wheeler, and neighboring counties.
