Drug Bust in Vidalia


Vidalia police officers arrested a man on numerous counts of drug charges after a routine traffic stop on Sunday.
At around 12:35 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, Vidalia patrol officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Fletcher Morris, 48, of Lyons, because of a motor vehicle violation. While conducting the stop, officers discovered trafficking amounts of cocaine and fentanyl, a felony quantity of marijuana, and numerous pharmaceutical pills inside the car.
Morris was arrested and charged with failure to obey stop/yield sign; two counts of open container violation; driving under the influence (drugs – less safe); trafficking of cocaine/ fentanyl; possession of cocaine/ fentanyl with intent to distribute; possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of schedule I controlled substance; and possession of prescription drugs not in original container.
Vidalia Police Chief Robert Shore commented on the arrest. “The Vidalia Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement that promotes public safety and reduces the impact of illegal drug activity within our community,” he assured.
