Three individuals have been arrested after kidnapping a man from a home in Soperton last month.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office with a kidnapping investigation on Wednesday, May 28, after a man reported that he had been kidnapped by Dean Tanner, 30, of Tarrytown; Lauren Bailey, 45, of Vidalia, and Jeff Sconyers, 51, of Vidalia.

According to the victim, the trio physically assaulted him at a home on Tarrytown Road in Soperton, then kidnapped him and drove him to a house on Pine Street in Vidalia, where they beat him again until he was unconscious. While the victim was unconscious, the individuals searched the victim for items that they believed he had stolen from a warehouse owned by Bailey.

After being unable to locate the items, the alleged kidnappers drove the victim to a secluded wooded area in Ailey, continued from page

where they sexually assaulted and abandoned him.

Tanner, Bailey, and Sconyers were arrested in Montgomery County on Thursday, May 29, and booked into the Treutlen County Jail, where they remain in custody. Currently, they are charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping for their actions in Treutlen County, but additional charges are expected for the crimes committed in Vidalia and Ailey.

The case is still being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, but will be turned over to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, and Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution when the investigation is complete.
