Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King said in a press release issued Wednesday May 28, that his office is investigating the case alongside the Alamo Volunteer Fire Department, Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office, and the McRae-Helena Police Department.

The release issued by King stated that on Monday, May 26, at approximately 5:26 a.m., the Alamo Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire on Glenwood Road that resulted in a total loss of the structure due to extensive fire damage. During examination of the scene, one deceased canine was located locked in a metal cage. No additional fatalities were reported. When local officials suspected arson, the Fire Marshall was contacted.

“Upon arrival, investigators performed a burnpattern analysis and interviewed several witnesses to the fire,” said Commissioner King. “As a result of the investigation, Facison was arrested on five charges.” The fifth charge involved an outstanding warrant.

Facison’s bond was set at $20,000 in a first appearance before the Wheeler County Magistrate. The suspect remains incarcerated in the Wheeler County Jail.
