City of Soperton Opens Million Pines Farmers Market

The City of Soperton held a ribbon cutting for the new Farmers Market on Thursday, May 29, 2025, marking the official opening of a city-operated space designed to support local vendors. The Farmers Market, funded through the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), will be held every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 3518 Railroad Ave, Soperton, GA 30457. The project has been discussed for years and now symbolizes continued from page
community progress and long-term vision.
The Market aims to bring together vendors offering homegrown produce and homemade goods. During the ribbon cutting, attendees were given a preview of the Market in action, with vendors including Parker Farms, Garland Carter with homegrown vegetables, and Autumn Lopez with various baked goods.
“This has been a long time coming, and we’re proud to see it finally come to life,” said Mayor John Koon. Deborah Ferrare of the Soperton-Treutlen Chamber of Commerce stated, “But a Market is only as successful as the community makes it. We encourage vendors to set up and for the public to shop local and support this initiative.”
Community members in attendance echoed that excitement, with several expressing hope that the Market will continue to grow.
