Wheeler Falls To Metter
The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs baseball team took part in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs last week. They took the trip over to Metter to face the Tigers. They played a double header on Wednesday with Metter winning both games to end the Bulldogs' season.
Game 1
In the first game of the series, Wheeler loaded the bases in the top of the first inning, and a walk to KJ Williams brought in the first run of the game. But Metter plated a run in the bottom of the first to tie the game, and then took the lead in the second with another run.
Cason Stokes drove in a run for Wheeler in the top of the third inning, but another run from Metter in the bottom of the frame gave them a 3-2 lead.
Metter broke the game open in the fourth with five runs, and they added one more in the fifth inning. Wheeler did pick up one more in the top of the seventh inning, but the Tigers took the win, 9-3.
Game 2 The second game was all Metter. Wheeler did score the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning on a ball hit by Stokes, but Metter got a run in the second to tie the game. Wheeler went back on top in the third inning with a 2-1 lead, but three from the Tigers in the fourth gave them a 4-2 lead.
Metter added two more in the fifth, and then scored nine runs in the sixth inning as they pulled away to a 15-2 win over the Bulldogs.
Wheeler ends their season with a record of 10- 15.
