TCHS Runs At Region Meet

The Toombs County track & field teams put together strong performances at the Region Championship on Monday of last week at Vidalia High School, with both the boys and girls teams earning third-place finishes. Competing against Swainsboro, Vidalia, and Woodville-Tompkins, the TrackDawgs showed their depth and determination across multiple events.

Girls

For the Lady Bulldogs, they had several athletes qualify for the Section Meet. Shay Stringer earned the lone 1st place for Toombs with her throws in the discus.

McKenna Gardisser took 3rd in the 400m dash, Aubrey Gay was 3rd in the 1,600m run and was 4th in the 800m run, and Karah Marsh finished 3rd in the discus. Taylor Bland came in 4th in the 300m hurdles and she was 4th in the triple jump.

The 4x100m relay team of Shania Brown, Emerson Powell, Raine Sears, and Dashanti Badie qualified for Sectionals, as did the 4x200m team of Shania Brown, Emerson Powell, Raine Sears, and Dashanti Badie.

Boys

For the boys, Juan Luna led the way as he took 1st place in the 3,200m run, was 3rd in the 1,600m, and was 4th in the 800m. Hayden Roy came in 1st place in the discus and he was 2nd in the 200m dash.

Mike Polke came in 2nd place in the 100m dash and was 2nd in the long jump. Brandon Stevens came in 2nd place in both the 110m and the 300m hurdles. Justice Wilds was 2nd in the high jump. Gavin Fletcher finished in 3rd place in the high jump and was 4th in the shot put. Elant Adams came in 3rd place in the 110m hurdles and was 4th in the 300m hurdles. And Don Mincey took 4th place in the 100m dash.

The 4x100m relay team of Nemo Scott, Don Mincey, Hayden Roy, and Mike Polke finished in 2nd place. The 4x200m team of Nemo Scott, Don Mincey, Alex Scott, and Hayden Roy came in 3rd place. And the 4x800m team of Chase Becker, Cole Russell, Juan Luna, and Moses Young came in 3rd place.

The TrackDawgs will compete next at Sectionals on Saturday, May 3, at Bleckley County High School.
