The GHSA State Golf Tournament was held last week at Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer, and it was hosted by Athens Academy. The Toombs County High School Bulldogs shot well and finished in ninth place in the state.

On Monday of last week on the first day of the event, the Bulldogs shot a team score of 341. Contributing scores were Vick Moore (78) and Drew Woodruff (85), Aidan Barton (87), and Noah Anken (91).

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs shot 326 (season low). Contributing scores were Drew Woodruff (79), Clay Conner (80), Vick Moore (82), and Noah Anken (85). That gave TCHS a two-day total of 667, which was good enough for ninth place.

Toombs Coach Matt Helms said, “Honestly it was the toughest competition I've seen in our State Tournament.”

The winning team was Mt. Paran Christian School. They were 2 under par as a team after Monday, putting them in second place overall, and they took it personally. They fired a total of 23 under par on the second day of the tournament to finish as a team at 24 under par, well in front of second place. Across all classifications, there were two teams under par and both were in AA.
