The Montgoemery County High School Eagles basketball teams took part in the GHSA State A Division II Playoffs last week. The boys dropped their game to Lanier County, while the #3 ranked girls won over Charlton County and #8 ranked Early County to keep their hopes alive.

Boys vs. Lanier

The boys were at Lanier in Lakeland on Wednesday of last week. MCHS did their best, but fell by 22 points to the Bulldogs. Lanier took an early lead and never looked back against the Eagles on the way to a 58-36 win.

MCHS finished the season with a record of 8-21.

Girls vs. Charlton

It was a big night for Marley Bell as she hit 2,000 points for her career early in the game. She went on to lead the team to a win with 36 points on the night.

With 4:09 left in the first quarter of the game, the Lady Eagles were in front 6-5. Just continued from page

after that, Bell scored her 2,000 point with 3:35 to play in the first. That also gave the Eagles a 9-5 lead over Charlton's Lady Indians. Charlton came back and tied the game at 10-10, and with 52 seconds on the clock they took the lead, 12-10. Erin Adams tied the game at 12-12 for the Eagles, but by the end of the first Charlton was in front 16-14 over the Eagles.

Early in the second, Bell tied the game and then gave MCHS the lead with a basket and a free throw. Bell and Amire Banks kept the game tied at 21-21, and then a steal and basket by Banks put MCHS up 2321 with 3:45 to play in the first. Banks added another basket. Banks got another one to go and Bell hit a shot, and it was 30-25 with just 15 seconds to go. At the end of the first half that was the score with MCHS in front of Charlton.

In the second half of the game, it was all MCHS as they made some adjustments and got the offense going. In the third quarter, the Eagles outscored Charlton 27-11 as they built up a 57-36 lead. The Lady Eagles went on to win the game, 71-45, to advance to the second round.
