OUT WITH THE OLD - McLendon Enterprises began demolishing the old Toombs County Courthouse last week. The demolition and cleanup is expected to take 2-3 weeks, after which work will begin on the parking area adjacent to the new courthouse. The new courthouse officially opened November 20, 2023, and will be hosting an official grand opening in the future. WINTER WONDERLAND – A cold front brought chilly winter weather to the area at the beginning of the week, as temperatures dipped into the low 20’s during the mornings. The arctic breeze even caused several fountains, such as the iconic Vidalia Onion Fountain at Ronnie A. Dixon City Park, and other bodies of water to freeze.Photo by Lisa Truxel
