The Toombs County High School Bulldogs esports team had a strong showing in Nintendo’s Splatoon 3 Splatsville Showdown Tournament, finishing in 39th place out of over 300 teams from the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The Splatsville Showdown is a highly competitive tournament for Splatoon 3, a popular action/adventure game developed by Nintendo. The tournament featured teams from all over North America, including some of the top players and teams in the game.

The Bulldogs had to face some tough competition in the early rounds of the tournament. However, the team was able to hold its own and advance through the bracket, eventually making it into the top 40 teams.

The team will use the experience they gained from this tournament as additional preparation for their Spring 2023 Splatoon 3 season, which begins the week of January 30. The team's cohesion and teamwork, honed from years of playing together, will be key as they prepare for another run at a Splatoon 3 state title after finishing as State Runner-Up in the Fall of 2022.

The team's coach, Tyler Corley, expressed his excitement about the team's performance. 'I am extremely proud of our team and their effort in the Splatsville Showdown this weekend. They represented our school and community well. Participating in this tournament allowed us to get additional practice time against quality competition as we prepare for the Spring 2023 season. It feels good to know we are one of the top 40 teams in North America right now.”

The team's captain, Adam Copeland, also shared his thoughts on the tournament. 'We knew it would be tough going into the tournament, but we were determined to do our best. We're ready to get started with our Spring 2023 season.”

The Toombs County Esports team began practice on January 17 and the Spring 2023 season will begin the week of January 30.
