The Eagles basketball teams of Montgomery County High School played several games last week. The girls took on Tattnall County and Vidalia at the Vidalia Christmas Classic and then played East Laurens at home on Friday. The boys faced Tattnall County at the Christmas Classic and East Laurens at home on Friday.

Girls vs. Tattnall

It was a battle between these two teams with MCHS pulling out the win. Tattnall held the early lead and were on top 19-16 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, though, MCHS came storming back and took a 30-24 lead into halftime.

45-41 heading to the fourth quarter. MCHS held off the Lady Warriors to get the win, 6159.

Girls vs. Vidalia

The VHS girls faced off with Montgomery County on Wednesday in their second game of the tournament. The game was tied at 10-10 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Eagles of Montgomery took a 2522 at halftime.

MCHS held a 44-41 lead heading to the fourth quarter and held off the Lady Indians 5549.

MCHS was led by Marley Bell with 19 points, Amiree Banks posted 15 points, and Trinity Wideman added 11.

Boys vs. Tattnall

The MCHS boys played Tattnall County at VHS in the Christmas Classic. It was a tough game for the Eagles against the Warriors. Tattnall was up early 10-3 and made it 18-3 by the end of the period.

In the second MCHS got a few baskets to fall but were trailing 30-16 late in the half. In the third the score was 45-29 with Tattnall well out in front. Tattnall took the win, 48-51 over the Eagles.

MCHS was led by Jakobe Mobley with 20 points, and Tristen Bell added 12 in the loss.

Girls vs. E Laurens

The Eagles hosted the Falcons of East Laurens on Friday night. The Lady Eagles held a slim 9-7 lead early in the first quarter. The Eagles began to pull away as they led 16-7 in the second and made it 24-11 late in the first half. By the third MCHS had taken a 4123 lead and were in complete control. MCHS won the game 63-38 over the Falcons.

Boys vs. E Laurens

The MCHS boys pulled out the win over the Falcons. East Laurens was on top 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, and after a tight second led 28-27 heading to halftime. In the third quarter MCHS took the lead and were on top 54-48 heading to the fourth. The Eagles held off the Falcons in the final quarter to take a 70-68 win.

This week MCHS will be at East Laurens on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and then will host Telfair County on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
