A third life was claimed at the intersection of James Street (Georgia Highway 130) and Sawmill Road (Georgia Highway 292) in Higgston, as a truck and car collided on Thursday afternoon, October 20. Drivers were detoured around the scene of the accident for around an hour by Higgston Volunteer Firefighters. Details on the mishap will come at a later date as the Georgia State Patrol has completed its investigation but has not released the report. A SOPERTON TRADITION - The Million Pines Arts and Crafts Festival began in 1973, as Soperton Citizens Mary and Jack Pournelle worked alongside others in the community to bring a festival to the city. The event has been an annual event ever since, only cancelling because of the Hurricane Helene destruction in 2024. This year, the festival returns bigger and better than ever.
