The Vidalia High School Indians softball team picked up two Region wins last week as they improved their record to 11-6-1 overall and 5-2 in Region 3AA. VHS started off the week with a win over Tattnall County at home on Tuesday, then on Thursday were in Lyons as they won over rival Toombs County. vs. Tattnall

In the bottom of the first inning, the Indians got on the board on a bunt by Lydia Smith. Then after loading the bases, Aidyn Driggers hit a two-run double for a 3-0 lead. In the top of the second inning, Tattnall answered with a pair of runs to close the lead to 3-2.

Vidalia got an RBI from Tori Wright to make it 4-2, and then Smith made it 6-2 with a two-run home run. The Indians added one more run to take a 7-2 lead to the third inning. But in the top of the third Tattnall again closed the gap as they plated four runs to make it a 7-6 lead for VHS.

In the bottom of the third inning, Wright blasted a three-run home run to push the lead to 10-6. The Indians added a couple of runs on a hit by Madison Starr in the bottom of the fifth inning, and then added one more to lead 13-6 heading to the sixth inning.

VHS scored one more in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the win, 14-6, over Tattnall. vs. Toombs

In the top of the first inning, the Indians took the early lead as Emma Vinson scored on a hit by Emma Humphrey.

Toombs tied the game in the bottom of the first inning. They had a runner on second base and tried to move her over to third. The VHS throw got away and allowed the runner to come in to score to make it 1-1.

runner on base, two errors on a ball hit by VHS allowed two runs to score for a 3-1 lead. VHS added one more run in the top of the third inning on a solo home run by Smith over the left-center fence for a 4-1 lead.

Toombs added a run in the bottom of the third inning to close it to 4-2. VHS made it 5-2 in the top of the fifth inning, and then four more runs by VHS in the top of the seventh inning put the game away. VHS got the win over Toombs 9-2.

This week VHS hosted Appling County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday with Brantley County in town at 6:00 p.m.
