Lady Eagles Wrap Up Season At 21-2

The Montgomery County High School basketball teams were at Johnson County on Tuesday of last week and then hosted Telfair County on Friday as they wrapped up their regular seasons. The #1 ranked Lady Eagles got wins in both of their games while the boys lost both of theirs.

Girls vs. Johnson

It was a blowout for the Lady Eagles as they had the offense going on Tuesday night. MCHS ran out to a 29-15 lead in the first quarter and had pushed that to 52-25 by the end of the first half of action.

In the third MCHS outscored Johnson 30-16 to lead 82-41 going to the fourth. MCHS had lots of subs in during the fourth as they took the win 92-52.

The Lady Eagles had five players in double figures on the night. Makyla Bell led the girls with 18 points, Marley Bell added 13, Jaliya Moore scored 11, and Amire Banks and Zakhia Lawhorne each scored 10 in the win.

Boys vs. Johnson The boys game was a battle that came down to the wire as Johnson

pulled out a 62-61 win over the Eagles.

with 22 points, Samari Madison added 12, Quantez Lewis scored 10 and Tristan Bell posted 9 in the loss.

Girls vs. Telfair

It was another big win for the Lady Eagles as they moved to 21-2 on the year and 15-1 in Region play.

It was a close game early as MCHS led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter and were up just 29-23 at halftime. But it was a huge third quarter for MCHS as they out scored Telfair 26-3 that gave them the win. MCHS was on top 55-26 heading to the fourth, and they took the win, 75-46. The Lady Eagles were led by Marley Bell with 31 points, Makyla Bell posted 19 points, and Moore added 9 in the win.

Boys vs. Telfair

The MCHS boys again played a close game but came up just short. In this game they fell to the Trojans 60-56. This week the Eagles will take part in the Region 4A Tournament. The boys played in a rematch with Telfair on Tuesday night of this week after presstime. If they won that game, they will play next on Wednesday against Wheeler County at 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler County. The Lady Eagles won't play till Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Dublin, when they take on the winner of the Dooly County and Wilcox County game.
