Pastor Bruce Conner

Pastor Bruce A. Conner, age 51, of Reidsville, died on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Memorial Health in Savannah after a sudden illness. Pastor Conner was a native of Toombs County and lived in Tattnall County most of his life. He was a 1988 graduate of Reidsville High School and attended Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon. He began his ministry at Ohoopee Baptist Church, where he pastored for 17 years, then Spring Hill Baptist Church in Wheeler County for several years, and was pastor at East Gordon Street Baptist Church in Lyons since 2015. In the late 1990’s, Bruce was a host on “Trading Times” on TV 46, and he was currently serving on the Reidsville City Council. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Conner, Jr., and Elaine Rebecca Claxton Conner.

His family includes 2 children, Alayna Conner and Lucas Allen Conner of Reidsville; 2 brothers, Charles “P-Nut” Conner and wife Kellie of Dublin, and Chris Conner of Vidalia; 1 nephew, Brandon Brown and wife Kelli of McRae-Helena; 1 uncle, Ken Claxton and wife Brenda; and 1 cousin, Rudy Fowler, all of Reidsville.

The funeral service was held on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at East Gordon Street Baptist Church, with Pastor Nathan Pittman and Calvin Jarriel officiating. Burial followed in Reidsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Calvin Jarriel, Ronnie Graham, John Morris, Johnny McCullough, Jason Willett, James Waters, Joey Hart, Wayne Collins, Clint Jarriel, Gary Bryant, Tommy Rauton, Glenn Samples, and Cole Samples.
