Obituaries

Mrs. Jackie Sharpe, age 69, of Mt. Vernon, died on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL, after an extended illness. Mrs. Sharpe was a native of Mt. Vernon and a 1971 graduate of Montgomery County High School. She worked at Ailey Manufacturing for several years, and retired as a social worker from Montgomery County Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Sharpe; her father, Harrison Addison Hill; and 1 sister, Dianne Coleman.

Her family includes 3 children, Shannon Hill Blaxton and husband Kent of Rincon, Leiane Sharpe of Mt. Vernon, and Dusty Sharpe and wife Hillary of Lyons; her mother, Mary Frances Timon of Mt. Vernon; 1 brother, Mackey Hill and wife Connie of Mt. Vernon; 7 grandchildren, Ethan Bryer Turner, Cole Smith, Luke Smith, Noah Sharpe, Rayne Hines, Kagan Blaxton, and Ryleigh Sharpe; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Betty Watson of Mt. Vernon. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Bishop Gilbert Wommack officiating.
