Ms. Meldra Collins

Ms. Meldra Opalene Higgs Collins, age 92, of the Ohoopee Community, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Community Hospice in Vidalia after a brief illness. Ms. Collins was a native of Toombs County and lived in the Ohoopee Community most of her life. She retired from Farmers Furniture as a sales associate. She was a member of Ohoopee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enus Festus Higgs and Offa Rollison Higgs; her former husband, Joseph Jarell Collins; and siblings, Hulan, Mildred, Mary, Winston, Her family includes 4 children, David J. Collins and wife Lisa of Hawkinsville, Virginia “Jenny” Collins Lynn and Mickey, William C. Collins, all of Ohoopee, and Joseph L. Collins of Pulaski; 4 siblings, Margie Patrick and husband Charlie, Dorothy Cobb, Butch Higgs, all of Lyons, and Joyce Higgs of Alabama; 9 grandchildren, Joey Kirkland and wife Lisa, Angie Braddock and husband Jason, Shane Collins, Tammy Wilds, Ben Tom Collins, David Collins, Jr., Tony Lynn, Cody Collins, and Justin Collins; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great- great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Nathan Pittman officiating.
