Mrs. Rose Morris Riner, ….

Mrs. Rose Morris Riner, age 90, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at her home following an extended illness. She was a native of Cedar Crossing and lived near there most of her life. She worked at Hazlehurst Manufacturing and Rose Bud Manufacturing for many years. She had been a member of the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church since 1947, and was affectionately known as “Granny Rose.” She enjoyed traveling and fishing with her late husband, gardening and flowers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Riner; parents, John Benjamin “Bennie” Morris and Claudia Jenkins “CJ” Jackson Morris; one sister, Grace Morris Turner; three brothers, Franklin Morris, Bobby Morris, and John “Bimbo” Morris; four other infant siblings; and sonin- law, Herbert Anderson.

Her family includes three children, Barbie Jean Riner Anderson, Scarlett Ann Riner Lane and husband Buddy, and Joe Riner and wife Zina, all of Cedar Crossing; one sister, Maxine Morris Hall of Wauchula, Florida; one brother, Jerry Morris and wife Edna of Zolfo Springs, Florida; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family received friends at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. The funeral service was Friday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey and Reverend Melvin Kramer officiating. Burial followed in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brad Lane, Tony White, John White, Daniel White, Terry Turner and Clayton Lanier.
