Obituaries

Rev. Robert Earl “Bob” Pickett, age 88, of the Orland Community of Soperton, died on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. Rev. Pickett was born in Atlanta, grew up in College Park, and was a graduate of Georgia Military Academy. He attended Truett McConnell in Cleveland, GA, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree. He attended East Texas Baptist College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree and majored in Sociology, Speech and Biblical Studies. He attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO, and University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, where he earned his Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. Throughout his career as an Ordained Baptist Minister he served 9 churches in Texas, Georgia, Missouri and Illinois. In 2005 he moved to Adrian. In 2007, he joined the staff at the Christian Family Center as a Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor. He was a member of the Garden of Prayer Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Robbie Elizabeth Watson Pickett; his first wife, Mary Helen Williams Pickett; 1 son, Timothy Moseley ; and siblings, Sylvia Pickett, Myrna Pickett and Golden Pickett, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Hester Mosley Pickett, Soperton; his children, Timothy Earl Pickett (Carol Salter), Adrian, Paul Robert Pickett (Daneta), Gastonia, NC, Blandon W. Moseley (Kathy), East Dublin, and Kenneth A, Moseley (Vicki), Soperton; 1 sister, Joyce Hofer (Greg), Newnan; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service was conducted on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in Harmony Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Mayo, Rev. Bobby Miller and Rev. Rusty Harper officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Christian Family Center, 21 Outreach Lane, Soperton, GA 30457 Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
